Alicia Keys is a native of New York, brought up studying traditional artist such as Beethoven, Mozart and Chopin. Alicia Keys also absorbed the jazz stylings of Oscar Peterson, Fats Waller and Marian McPartland. Alicia Keys songwriting transcends emotion and skill mixing the classics with Hop-Hop and R&B. Key's wrote and producer Alicia Keys debut album for J Records, "Songs in A Minor", sold more than 50,000 on release day.
Alicia Keys' talent was discovered at the age of 5 and was enrolled in Manhattan's Professional Performance Arts School to continue to develop Alicia Keys vocal talent. Alicia Keys began to pen Alicia Keys own songs at the age of 14. Alicia graduated and entered Columbia University at the age of 16, quickly leaving it behind for a career in music. Alicia Keys signed a deal with Arista Records in 1988. When Clive Davis left Arista for J Records in 1999 and took Alicia Keys with him. Alicia Keys continues to write and perform to sold out crowds.
