Keith Urban was born in New Zealand and began playing guitar at age 6. Keith Urban picked up his country influences from his Dad’s interest in American culture and country music. As his musical abilities grew so did his interest in some of the best rock guitarist of our time. Keith Urban studied the guitar playing techniques of Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits and Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham. Urban was a unique part of the Australian country music revolution in the 1990’s and his first album won many awards.

During his Australian success Keith Urban made several trips to Nashville and in 1997 made the move with his band. Urban’s live shows led to a record deal with Capitol Nashville and a management contract with I.R.S./Miles Copeland. His American debut album was released in 1997 to critical acclaim. Critics raved about the album’s unique take on country music and Urban’s guitar playing.
